Rhodochrosite Sogdia Necklace

Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral with distinctive pink-to-red banding, sourced from Argentina, Colorado, and Peru. The banding forms in alternating manganese-rich and manganese-poor layers deposited over geological time. The palette here is built around it.

Five focal rhodochrosite stones sit across the collar, framed in helix beadwork in green, burgundy, magenta, and purple. Between them, drops hang tipped in small rhodochrosite rounds. A deep red glass scarab with silver etching anchors the center drop, a form that traveled the Silk Road through Sogdia and into Central Asia long after its origins elsewhere.

Wear it with a burgundy silk boatneck, an olive linen square-neck, or a magenta wool off-the-shoulder.
