Rainbow Amethyst Gulbadan Necklace

Rainbow amethyst is a banded chalcedony, not a true amethyst. The name comes from the color range within a single stone: pale lavender, warm cream, and rust orange moving in parallel bands across the surface. The banding is formed by silica-rich fluid depositing in layers over time, each band a record of slightly different mineral conditions. The three rectangular focal stones here show the full range, lavender to cream to rust, reading differently depending on where the light lands.
