Malachite Cleopatra Necklace

Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide. The banding is a growth record, each stripe a different moment in the mineral's formation. Sourced historically from the DRC, Zambia, and Russia. The green is not decorative. It is the color of copper meeting oxygen over geological time.

Here it anchors a two-strand collar. Upper strand: malachite rectangles connected by peach seed bead loops, with aubergine tile beads at each intersection. Lower strand: aubergine seed beads in a continuous loop. Aqua glass leaf beads with gold etching run throughout, shifting between teal and aqua depending on the light. An oxblood Y-drop at center carries the focal drop.

The palette is warm-adjacent without being warm. Peach and aubergine pull the malachite out of its obvious register. The oxblood drop grounds it.

Wear it with a gray linen shirt or a vintage camel blazer, where warm neutrals make the malachite read as artifact rather than costume. Built for a museum day, a friend's gallery, or dinner somewhere with good wine.
