Hessonite is a grossular garnet in the orange-to-brown range, color from manganese and iron. The name comes from the Greek for "inferior," a misnomer from early gemologists who ranked it below other garnets. It is not inferior.

These handmade beaded earrings are built in two stacked teardrop frames, smaller above larger below. The hessonite rounds stud the horizontal crossbars and run along the outer curve of the lower teardrop, putting the stone where it catches light from multiple angles. A dark blue glass square sits at the center junction. The outer frames are lined in sage green. The vertical interior lines are bright and reflective. A glass teardrop hangs at the base.

Wear these with warm earth tones: burnt sienna, ochre, deep olive. The hessonite pulls those colors forward. A dark teal or forest green works equally well, letting the orange-brown garnet do the contrast work.
