Garnet Double Navette Earrings

Pyrope garnet gets its color from chromium, the same element responsible for the red in rubies. The difference is crystal structure: pyrope forms deep in the earth's mantle under high pressure, carried to the surface by volcanic activity. The red you get is not a surface effect. It goes all the way through.

These are built in two stacked teardrop frames, smaller above larger below. Garnet rounds stud the horizontal crossbars and run along the outer curve of the lower teardrop. The frames shift between blue and violet depending on the angle. Amber gold glass tubes line the interior struts. A dark green glass bead sits at the center junction. A pale glass teardrop hangs at the base.

Wear these with burgundy, forest green, midnight blue. Or black, and let the red do all the work.
