Cherry Blossom Agate Cleopatra Necklace

Cherry blossom agate is a chalcedony with dendritic inclusions scattered through a dusty pink ground. The patterning is organic and irregular, dark marks on warm stone, different in every tablet. The pieces here are freeform cushion-cut, which lets the natural outline of each stone read rather than imposing a uniform shape.

The top strand spaces them on warm pink seed beads and short gold-copper bugle tubes, with small dark red glass ovals adding depth between each stone. The loop strand is primary red seed beads, clean and opaque, connecting at faceted pink bicone junctions that sit at each pivot point.

From the lower strand, smoky gray-bronze glass teardrops hang, smooth and slightly iridescent, warm in incandescent light and cooler in daylight. Not peach. The fringe reads closer to smoked rose or taupe-bronze, depending on what it is next to.

At the center, a Y-drop in silver-gray falls to a faceted diamond-cut glass focal in dusty gray-mauve. The cut catches light at each face. The color sits at the cool edge of the pink family, which is what keeps the whole palette from reading as simply pretty.

The palette is dusty pink, primary red, warm gold-copper, smoky gray-bronze, and dusty mauve. Spring, but with some weather in it.

Pair with a charcoal silk dress, a cream linen blouse, or a slate-blue wool sweater. For weddings, spring openings, or the kind of garden dinner where the candles get lit before sundown.
