Carnelian Desert Dusk Necklace

Carnelian is a chalcedony, color derived from iron oxide content. The orange ranges from pale peach to deep rust depending on iron concentration and how the stone was formed. The translucency is a property of the material, not a finish. Light moves through it differently than it moves through opaque stone.

Square carnelian tiles in graduated orange sit in a descending grid, framed by cobalt seed bead lattice loops with aubergine seed beads and deep green bugle beads woven through the connecting strands. Four olive spherical cat-eye glass beads anchor the base row. A single purple pressed glass leaf bead hangs at center.
