Chalcedony is a microcrystalline quartz with a waxy luster and a translucence that varies with thickness. The tablets here are cushion-cut rectangles, pale blue-white, sitting across the neckline on a top strand of cobalt blue seed beads with small clear oval spacers between each stone.
The loop strand is red. Straight primary red seed bead loops, connecting at flat pink-coral square tile junctions that bridge the warm and cool halves of the palette. From each loop, a lavender glass teardrop hangs, smooth and translucent, shifting toward periwinkle in cooler light.
At the center, a Y-drop in red and cobalt meets at a teal seed bead junction before falling to the focal: a pressed glass oval in deep burgundy with a white daisy inlay, Czech construction, the kind of bead that rewards a second look.
The palette is cobalt, red, pink-coral, pale blue-white, lavender, and deep burgundy. The color move is real. Cobalt and red should not work this well together. They do.
Pair with a slate blue silk shell or a fisherman sweater. For winter dinners, a long museum afternoon, or anywhere the lighting goes blue.
