Black Labradorite Gulbadan Necklace

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral known for labradorescence: a structural color phenomenon caused by light interference between twinned crystal layers. The base color of black labradorite is near-opaque dark gray to black. The blue flash is not a coating or treatment; it is a function of the stone's internal geometry and the angle of incident light. It appears and disappears as the piece moves.

Three black labradorite focal stones along the spine, with interlocking strands of burgundy, copper, and gray beadwork cascading on either side. A red glass focal bead anchors the bottom point. The palette is deliberately low-contrast until the labradorescence fires, at which point the blue reads against the dark ground with considerable force.

Pair it with a charcoal wool turtleneck, a black silk v-neck, or a burgundy linen blouse. For winter dinners, gallery openings, or a long evening in low light.
