Aventurine Sogdia Necklace

Green aventurine is a quartz-family feldspar with a faint internal sparkle caused by platelets of fuchsite mica, a property called aventurescence. Most commercial material comes from India and Brazil. The color here sits in the pale celadon range, which reads differently than the saturated greens, cooler and more considered.

Five focal aventurine stones across the collar, surrounded by chartreuse and purple helix-shaped beadwork. Drops of green and purple beadwork hang between them, tipped in olive cat's-eye beads, with a small purple butterfly at the center drop. The helix stitch is structural: it's what keeps the beadwork from collapsing between the stones.

Wear it with a deep purple silk square-neck, an olive linen boatneck, or a cream wool off-the-shoulder. Good light helps. Any room with a garden view is not a bad idea.
