Autumn Moss Agate Cleopatra Necklace

Moss agate is a chalcedony with dendritic inclusions of chlorite or hornblende that branch through the stone in patterns that read as landscape. Here the cut is cushion-square, and the color sits at the blue-green end of the moss agate range: teal-aqua, translucent, with the characteristic internal patterning visible through the face of each tablet.

The structure is two strands. A top strand of golden yellow seed beads and dark bronze spacers holds the agate tablets across the neckline. Below, grass green seed bead loops connect at flat white square tile junctions, with small amber faceted crystals at each pivot point. Iridescent amber-copper spike beads hang from the lower strand, aurora borealis finish, shifting between orange, gold, and bronze depending on the light.

At the center, a Y-drop stem meets at a junction bead and falls to the focal: a molded pressed glass fish in chartreuse yellow-green, with dark olive stripe detailing and visible ribbing across the body. It is specific and a little unexpected, which is the point.

The palette is teal, grass green, golden yellow, bronze, and chartreuse. A forest floor in October, but a particular forest, on a particular afternoon.
