Amethyst Tellmark Necklace

Amethyst is a violet quartz. Color comes from iron impurities and natural irradiation, and this particular selection runs pale lavender at the edges, deepening toward the center of each rectangle. The stones are translucent, which means light moves through them rather than stopping at the surface.

Six amethyst rectangles sit across the collar, connected by gold bugle triangles edged in mauve seed beads. From each junction, a short drop falls and ends in a round ametrine. Ametrine is what happens when amethyst and citrine share the same crystal: iron oxidation states in the same stone, producing purple and yellow in a single bead. The rounds at the collar fringe are small, but the mineralogy is doing real work.

The pendant descends in tiers from the center junction. A butterfly accent marks the first break, flanked by mauve seed beads. Below it, the drop continues to a large pink oval focal, two ametrine rounds flanking it on either side. One more tier below that: a gold bugle triangle, then a final three-round fringe at the base.

The structure is the same Tellmark logic as the lapis variants: tiered, geometric, built from the collar down. What changes is the palette. Pale lavender, mauve, gold, and that pink focal pull the whole piece into a softer register without losing the structural weight.

Inspired by motifs from an archaeological dig in modern-day Jordan. Wear it with a flowing maxi dress at a garden party, or a silk blouse at a reception where the room is full of people who will ask where it's from.
