Amethyst Hoysala necklace

Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. Color comes from iron impurities activated by natural irradiation during formation. One of the most widely distributed gemstones in the world, with deposits across South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. The three square focal stones here sit at the saturated end of the spectrum, reading purple rather than lavender.

The focal stones anchor a horizontal ladder of purple and copper. Three geometric teardrop pendants drop from each focal point, the copper pulling the warm undertone out of the stone rather than contrasting against it.
