Amethyst is violet quartz, color from iron impurities and natural irradiation during crystal formation. The saturation and transparency vary by deposit: Brazilian amethyst runs deep and opaque, Zambian runs cooler and more translucent. These tablets are natural, untreated South African amethyst, meaning you can see into them, and the color shifts under different light sources.
The Appian Way was Rome's first major road, built 312 BC: wide flat paving slabs, short vertical columns between them, continuous rails along the edges. That geometry is exactly what this cuff is built from, which means the transition from ancient road to your wrist is more literal than it sounds.
Amethyst tablets run in a horizontal row across the center. Amber glass columns separate each tablet, with a deep navy border running the full perimeter. Gold seed beads sit at every junction where the border meets the columns.
Wear it with a black turtleneck, a deep plum wrap dress, or a charcoal blazer where the violet has something dark and solid to read against.
