Amazonite Cleopatra Necklace

Amazonite is a feldspar mineral. Its color comes from trace amounts of lead and water in the crystal structure, which is why a single stone can shift from white-cream to peach to blue-green within the same tablet. That variation is not inconsistency. It is mineralogy.

In this version of the Cleopatra, cushion-cut amazonite tablets are spaced along gold tube bars, held in the lattice by copper seed bead loops with teal metallic Czech glass dagger junctions. The fringe is smooth amazonite teardrops in the blue-green range. A chartreuse crystal sits above the center focal: a diamond-orientation amazonite square, point-down, in the deepest green of the palette.

The piece works because the stone does the color work. The copper and gold warm it. The teal daggers keep it from going soft.
