Chevron Braid Hair Jewelry

The Chevron Braid runs a band of geometric beadwork along the side of the head, with a  repeating V-pattern stitched in seed beads, with focal gemstone beads anchoring the comb where the piece sits in an updo. The no-slip barrette holds the front end; the comb holds the back. The gemstones show just at the hairline.

The chevron is one of the oldest geometric forms in textile work; it shows up in Iron Age weaving, Berber embroidery, medieval heraldry, which means it reads as intentional rather than decorative without trying too hard to explain itself.
